Red White and Dy-no-Mite!
Vinemark Cellars, Cabernet Franc 2014 - Paso Robles, CA
Our Take: Winemaker Mark Wasserman’s Cabernet Franc is the quintessential cab franc. Medium-bodied and loved for its savory, medium-high acidity and mouthwatering taste. It is an ideal food pairing wine.
Tasting Notes: Beautiful garnet color and sumptuous blackberry fruit make this an enticing Cabernet Franc. The velvety mouth feel renders flavors of cassis, white pepper and dusty cocoa. The finish offers hints of oak and smoky prosciutto, and cinnamon with balanced tannins.
Fiddlehead Cellars, Sauvignon Blanc 2013 - Santa Barbara, CA
Our take: Happy wines come from Happy Canyon! Adam Lazarre was in the shop and commented about this wine, “ If anyone can yield the best sauvignon blanc grapes in this region, it’s Kathy Joseph.” This is her signature edition sauvignon blanc and it hits all the marks; high fruit content, high acidity, light bodied, and not on the sweet side of the street!
Tasting Notes: Loire-styled Sauvignon Blanc. This silky-textured wine illustrates the beauty of the blend: 1/3 fermented in stainless steel for bright aromatics and zinginess, 1/3 fermented in new French oak barrels for layered textures and persistent flavors and the final third fermented in neutral French oak barrels to achieve marriage and grace. A chic, less herbal style, with little hints of cloves.
Emmolo, Merlot 2015 - Rutherford, CA
Our take: If you’ve ever been in the shop, then you know this is one of Dave’s fav’s when it comes to Merlot. Don’t go SIDEWAYS and miss out on this pleasure bomb!
Tasting notes: Grapes for this wine were sourced from Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll district, which includes two family vineyards. The area’s cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavors, a fresh earthiness and smooth, leathery tannins.
Blinded By The White! Foley Johnson, Chardonnay Carneros 2016 - Napa, CA Concentrated, complex aromas with notes of grilled peach, pear, buttered croissant, and vanilla set the stage for a rich, and full-bodied Chardonnay. Balance, structure and bright acidity make it an age-worthy wine. Wrath, Saignee Pinot Noir 2017 - Monterey, CA Bright red fruit, lively acidity and moderate alcohol...
Badda-bing-badda-boom! Double Lariat, Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 - Napa, CA Our take: 2015 was THE year for Napa Cabs. This trio is the ultimate addition to your wine selection at home! The Double Lariat is no exception. Tie-a-knot and wrap a bow around it, and pretend it’s a gift for someone else, if you’re the type that wants to save this...
